In 2005, JGM was awarded a complex structure for St. Joseph’s new church in Dover, Del. We utilized BIM modeling to develop the shop details and the 3D model. This model provided the baseline for the MEP trades to model the rest of the ductwork, electrical systems, and fire suppression systems. The main support of the roof was a fabricated truss 120-feet-long, weighing 100,000 lbs. JGM erected this truss utilizing a 550-ton hydro crane and set all of the supporting steel with a 250-ton assist crane. Between the concrete contractor, the detailer, and the JGM fabrication and erection crews, this project could not have gone any smoother. Every piece of steel fit and not a single error was made.
