As this was our second project for Community College of Philadelphia (CCP), the college was extremely confident in our abilities and was excited to have us on the team for another round. This project had several unique challenges on many different fronts. The building was an extension of an existing structure and was tucked in between 16th and 17th streets in downtown Philadelphia. We established weekly meetings with the design team to work through all of the coordination issues of tying in the existing structures to all of the MEPs. JGM was utilizing BIM modeling for this project and was able to bring the model to the project team meeting to discuss RFIs, change orders, and erection sequence plans. This visual tool also enabled other trade contractors to point out interferences within their scope of work that would typically be missed during the shop drawing review. This project was being constructed over the former Baldwin Locomotive shop. As excavation began for foundations and utilities, they came across several unforeseen conditions that had a major impact on the structural steel plan. Due to JGM’s, “when you need it yesterday” mentality, we were able to make the changes on demand so that we could keep steel moving in the shop and not impact our erection crews.

Testimonial:
“Because of JGM’s flexibility and “can-do” spirit, you were able to adapt and overcome the usual challenges of such a project and complete your work safely, timely and with exceptional quality. These efforts by the JGM team in collaboration and cooperation with other project team members enabled the students of CCP to utilize these facilities according to our intended schedule. JGM, Inc. will be considered as a successful contractor with a proven quality track record and as such, will be included in any structural bidding opportunities in the future.
